AGA TOUR Turns 30 in 2023!

We have had a long run in the Atlanta market with the AGA TOUR and it is time to change things up. With an increasing number of tournament opportunities and the golf industry changes due to market conditions and Covid, the time is right to do something new and different that we are excited to announce for the 2023 AGA TOUR season.

UPDATE November 2024
We are going to 1 membership price of $250.  If we fill up an event, priority will be given based on entries received 7 days in advance and then by season points standing.  Given we have some nice private courses that limit our numbers is the reason to ensure this is known and understood.

UPDATE May 2023
Wanted to be transparent and let everyone know the latest.  The private courses were less hospitable then we expected and although we think we have a great schedule we have failed to deliver on 2 to 3 really nice private courses that we thought would work out which was a big driver to our pricing strategy.  So we aimed high and didn’t work out as expected on the schedule.  That being said we are making an adjustment to the membership pricing and playing rules for our private events as pricing was based on those expected courses.

Changes

  • Pricing is going to drop to $350 for a full membership.  Anyone who already paid full membership will get a $100 AGA credit.
  • Playing rules – weekend members are going to be allowed to play in private events with 2 conditions – 1) Full members take precedence if we fill up an event  2) Cost will be $30 more or same price as guests.

We are also changing the cost model as a number of the private courses are pricey and we don’t want price to be a factor in your decision to play.  That said, we are going to a cost-only model for events.  We are going to increase our membership cost as we haven’t increased it in a long time and we want this to be a membership organization.  Ideally your overall cost will be about the same cost as it was in the past.  Each event will be $25-$30 cheaper than in the past.  Membership fee is going to increase to $250 a year for a weekend only membership, and $350 a year for all events.

Our numbers will be limited at these private weekday club events, so we will not be allowing guests unless it is an exceptional case or if our host for the club has other members of their club that want to play with us.  Guests are still allowed for weekend events as we have always allowed.  Basically we are going to have a distinction of membership levels and access to events. There will be a $30 surcharge per event for players who are not members.

We have talked to so many AGA members who really want to play the best courses in a competitive, yet friendly, environment.  We believe these changes will allow us to focus on providing that to our members and continue to attract the right kind of golfers to join the AGA TOUR!  We love to see friends made on the AGA TOUR through the love of golf and the community that has been created.

If you want to help host us at your club let us know!

Changes to existing membership

  1. Membership Cost – Increased annual membership price – 2 levels of membership will exist: Weekend Only (weekend & trips only – $250) and Full (access to all events – $350). Note – Weekend Only members will be able to play weekday private club events for a $30 surcharge assuming event is not full with Full level members.
  2. Event Cost – Decreased event cost as AGA TOUR will no longer add profit margin into events.
  3. Access to courses – We are going to leverage our members and friends in the Atlanta market to co-host events at top private courses. This will give us the opportunity to play exclusive private courses in the area. Note – A benefit to private club members who help host an AGA event at their club is discounted full membership price of $250.
  4. Guest policy – A guest of a member will only be allowed for weekend events with a $30 guest fee and a 2 time limit. However, if a Full member has an out-of-town guest, and we have space available for an event at a private course, an exception can be made. If we are playing at a private club, a non-AGA club member is allowed to join us and play in our AGA TOUR event as a guest player of that private club member.
